Cranks -- the emphasis (at least to me in the time of writing, I'm happy to be replaced) was on radio, ie, back-to-ham radio as a recourse to ye olde techno-activism. Apparently ham-users would corrupt transmissions that were communicating military commands -- a form of interference likened to online activism and hacking in something I was reading the other day. (Not too far from your 'back to ham' peace plan for world politics).

My own echoic intention was with back-to-school catalogues, Woolies, 1992.

Hamfisting needs a mention, too, no doubt.

As usual my appreciation tricky wordery is hijacked by my appreciation of a single standout phrase, in this case "back-to-ham".

It this like "back-to-basics"? "Back-to-the-future"? "Back-in-Black?"

Personally I think "back-to-ham" could be the philosophical key to resolving many world issues. For example I can think of at least two major religions that could benefit from a 'back to ham' approach. Ham-induced peace have solved major conflicts in the past, including the occasion when Peter the Great was forced to postpone an invasion of the Bulgarian Marches when he was informed that no BLTs would be available until the following solstice. He retired in grief and waged no further wars in his lifetime.

OR does it just mean you were doing something dirty with some ham somehow positioned to your rear? If this is the case I may recommend a more active role for the ham in such a scenario. The greatly revered practice of ham-assisted frottage has some notable historical adherents, for example John Wayne, Oliver Cromwell, Deng Xiao Ping, and Margaret Fulton.
